dream or a fantasy. It's simply what the
beaches in this part of Queensland are like.
Mission Beach, South Mission Beach, Bingil Bay,
Clump Point, Garners Beach.
Mission Beach is
located halfway between Townsville and Cairns on a
14km stretch of sandy beachline bordering the Coral
Sea. Rainforest growing right to the sea.
Closest point to The Great Barrier Reef and located
a very short distance from Dunk and Bedarra Islands.
Awesome beaches,
World Heritage Rainforest, The Great Barrier Reef.
Although in the
summer months stingers are in the waters and as such
not suitable for swimming, there are
2 stinger nets in Mission Beach which are put out as
soon as stingers arrive. If the thought of
swimming in the stinger nets doesn't meet your fancy,
( stingers still can get through the nets! ), there are plenty of very nice creeks and waterfalls
within very easy drive of Mission Beach and the water is
crystal clear and nice and warm ...
In winter time, the
water ranges in temperature from xxx to xxx making
for very pleasant swimming.
